In theory, maybe I get the “we’re all just playing with barbies, they’re fictional characters, no interpretation is incorrect because it’s an interpretation” argument. But actually no, not all takes are equally valid. Framing something as an interpretation doesn’t mean it inherently has merit. Some takes are completely incorrect and betray a fundamental misunderstanding of the source material. They just aren’t a reason to harass people or send death threats
They didn’t have to do this. They covered the fentanyl epidemic, anti maskers, measles, mass shootings, human trafficking, addiction, homelessness, bureaucratic barriers, COVID mourning, and so much else. But they took a minute to give credit where it belonged and thank the people who set the standard for so many lives saved and shine light on the repeated trend of Black communities pioneering things like this and then being fucked over
everyone like “Willie, are you a doctor?” and when he said Freedom House I gasped and was like OMG THAT’S RIGHT IT WAS PITTSBURGH (I learned about Freedom House from an episode of the podcast Criminal)
That entire episode was hilarious to me because Ezra just found a feral Sith Lord in the garbage and immediately went “He followed me home! Can we keep him?” without any second thoughts. And then like the stray cat he is, Maul proceeded to push everyone’s cups off the counter and vomit in Kanan’s shoes.
